Edouard Fleury was born in Paris where he received his formal artistic education as a pupil of Thomas Couture (1815-1879) and Charles Monginot (1825-1900). Fleury exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1863 to 1868 and was a specialist still life artist rendering delicate scenes often featuring grapes with a precise and subtle technique.
